This is a Controlled Cycle Crimp Tool Frame. The Controlled Cycle means it will not release until the desired crimp pressure has been applied. This ensures consistent, reliable crimps.
INCLUDES Crimp Dies P/N: 90575-2 to crimp 20-14 AWG AMP (Tyco) Mate-N-Lok terminals. These terminals are commonly used in Strobe systems, they are also used extensively by Cessna for general interconnects.
This style of crimp looks very similar to the Edge Connectors used by many radio manufacturers, but it is different and should not be interchanged. Using the wrong crimp tool will make it harder to insert and remove the contacts, increase termination resistance, decrease life expectancy and reduce reliability. On some connectors it will cause the contacts to mis-align, making it difficult for the connector halves to mate (not what you want when your upside down under an instrument panel).
This tool (and the dies) should be calibrated regularly to ensure it remains within specifications. The period of calibration will vary depending on the type and amount of use, most operators start with a 12 month period. We would be happy to discuss your requirements.
